Coach Erica Farnsworth was born and raised in Arizona and attended Thunderbird High School where she played varsity basketball, track/cross country, and swimming. Erica attended Glendale Community College where she received scholarships in basketball, soccer and track and earning her Associates. After GCC she continued on to Western Oregon University where she continued her education also receiving a scholarship in basketball and soccer. After graduating from WOU she returned home to Arizona and started working for her family business “Arizona Bag Company”. Erica has been coaching for 16 years and is entering her 12th varsity season. Previous to Pinnacle she coached at Shadow Mountain High School. Erica was an Assistant to the 2010 championship team and 2011 Runner up. As a Head Coach she led her team to the finals and became a Champion in 2019. This will be Coaches 3rd year at Pinnacle. Erica and her husband Troy have 3 children Brady 17, Kelsey 6 and Reid 5.
Assistant Varsity Coach Kayleigh Crowe, a.k.a. Coach K, started coaching basketball in 2016-2018 for two seasons at Royal Palm Middle School. From there, she started as an assistant coach for Scottsdale Community College from 2016-2020. Coach K was also the strength and conditioning coach for three seasons at SCC. While coaching at SCC, she helped offer higher education opportunities for players, by developing their skills and knowledge of the game. Her focus over the last few years have centered around her passion for strength and conditioning, as well as coaching basketball. Her knowledge and experience as a coach has been enhanced by her ability to work the past three years as a sports performance coach.
On a personal skills level, she played college basketball at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, where she received her Bachelors Degree In health and sports science with a minor in Sports Psychology.
As a two sport athlete (basketball and football) at Tustin High school Coach Christopher Barrett was a High School All American football player. He attended University of Southern California (USC) and studied Public Policy. While at USC he was a 2x National Champion, and 4x PAC10 champion. Coach Barrett started his coaching career in 2009 at Servite High School in, Anaheim, CA as the Defensive Line coach. During his time at Servite, Coach Barrett also coached Boys JV basketball for two consecutive years. In 2011 he was the strength Coach and defensive line coach at Lakewood high school, until 2012 when he became the first official college football coach in China. Coach Barrett started college football at 6 different universities in China. In 2016 he became the Game Development Manager for the China Arena Football League until 2018 when he became the Kinetics Teacher at Pat Tillman middle school. Coach Barrett is now a PE teacher and O-Line coach at Pinnacle High School.
Coach Dave Ference is currently in his 7th year of being part of the teaching staff at Pinnacle as a Graphic Design Teacher. He comes to us as a graduate of Northern Arizona University and has over 25 years of teaching and coaching experience both as a basketball and a baseball coach. He spent 5 years coaching under the tutelage of Karen Self (one of the best coaches in Arizona) over at Seton Catholic Prep. Throughout his many years as a coach he has gained the experience of working with the different player levels and coaching staffs while maintaining professional relationships with the Administration, Teachers, Booster Clubs and Parents. Coach Ference is excited to begin his 2nd year working with Coach Erica Farnsworth, her staff and players all while furthering the excellent pride and tradition that is Pioneer Basketball.
